Benin Telecoms (2007 – 2011)

Patrick Benon was appointed CEO of Benin Telecoms in 2007, after joining the company the previous year. Under his leadership, he restructured the company following its separation from postal services, establishing a solid legal and financial framework. Orange Centrafrique (2011 – 2014)

In 2011, Patrick Benon became CEO of Orange Central African Republic during a period of significant financial and social crisis for the company. During his tenure, he restored revenue growth with a 40% annual increase and returned the company to profitability. Under his leadership, Orange Centrafrique launched the country’s first 3G network and maintained operations despite military crises. Orange Botswana (2014 – 2021)

In 2014, Patrick Benon took the helm of Orange Botswana. He implemented an ambitious transformation plan, allowing the company to become the market leader in telecommunications. Under his management, Orange Botswana became the first operator to launch 4G, 4G+, and 4G-TDD networks. Orange Cameroon (Since 2021)

In September 2021, Patrick Benon was appointed CEO of Orange Cameroon. His tenure began amid significant regulatory pressure and social unrest. He launched a transformation program to improve the work environment, promote digital inclusion, and strengthen the company’s resilience. By 2024, under his leadership, Orange Cameroon became the market leader in telecommunications for the first time in decades, with an 18% revenue growth and a 44% increase in EBITDA. He also oversaw a complete network modernization and the launch of new products like unlimited residential internet and the Maxit app.

Voici la preuve s’il en fallait encore qu’il ne suffit pas d’être talentueux pour réussir dans la musique. Il faut avoir un bon entourage, faire de bonnes rencontres au bon moment et surtout être chanceux. Un musicien célèbre disait, le succès c’est 10% de talent et 90% de chance.

Sine Tum alias Sine est certainement l’une des meilleures voix que le Cameroun a produit. C’est un artiste confirmé qui s’est forgé à l’école des cabarets. Il avait un très riche répertoire et pouvait viré sans transition du Makossa au RNB ou encore de la chanson française au RAP US. Son principal atout, c’est sa voix. Une voix venue de nulle part. Sa voix séduisait et il a toujours su s’en servi. C’est ainsi qu’il pouvait passer des gammes les plus basses aux gammes les plus hautes en une fraction de seconde. Une véritable curiosité à lui tout seul.

Ceux qui l’ont découvert alors qu’il était chanteur dans les carbarets se demandait surtout quand est ce qu’il va avoir une carrière à la hauteur de son talent. Tout le monde était convaincu que Sine Tum sera un grand artiste de dimension internationale.

Et lorsqu’il est sélectionné pour représenter le Cameroun à l’émission Africa Star au Gabon , on est alors que convaincu que c’est le moment. Sidney va littéralement marcher sur cette compétition.Il va éclabousser la compétition de son génie. Même les coachs de la dimension d’Annie Flore Batchilenys étaient pantois devant autant de talent concentré. Comme il fallait s’y attendre, Sydney remporta la compétition. Et ce n’est pas la première compétition qu’il avait remporté dans sa jeune carrière.

On se souvient de ses performances mémorables dans cette compétition notamment lorsqu’il interpréta  » I will Always Love You » de withney Houston. Au terme de cette grande performance, le public lui servit un standing ovation légendaire. Et que dire de sa performance en finale, lorsqu’il interpréta « tout le monde bouger bouger » de Georges Seba drapé du drapeau tricolore du Cameroun. Un immense moment de télévision.

Sidney remporte la premiere edition d’AfricaStar qui s’est tenu en 2008 au Gabon. Il etait suivi de Gael Gbessovi du Benin et de Ricko de Côte d’Ivoire.
Cette édition avait aussi vu la participation des noms tels que : Sia Tolno(Guinée Conakry), Bintou Soumbounou (Mali), Woly Diop (Senegal), Joel Evane (Gabon) et Chrystelle Bwenta (RDC).

Lorsque Sidney remporte ce télé-crochet on est tous convaincu qu’une brillante carrière internationale s’ouvre à lui. Tout ne se passera pas comme prévu. A peine avait-il été déclaré vainqueur qu’il se brouillait déjà avec le producteur Claudi Siar qui était contre le projet d’immigration de Sidney.

Il va réaliser quelques albums qui ont eu un succès relatif. Et va disparaitre peu à peu de la scène. On va le retrouver au Maroc , pays depuis lequel il livre ses performances vocales pour agrémenter de grands événements.

Sidney n’a pas eu une carrière à la hauteur de son talent. Toutefois,il n’est pas fini, il peut encore rebondir.
Peut-être devrait-il s’attacher des services des auteurs qui composeraient pour lui ? Car ses talents d’interprète sont indéniables. Ses talents d’interprètes ont même souvent occulté les versions originales de certaines chansons qu’il a interprétées.
